Welcome to Grade 5!
October 2 - Picture day ๐ท
Thank you for all of the Getting to Know Your Students forms that have been filled out. It is helpful to learn about students from a home perspective!
Please sign Digital Citizenship forms and Parent/Guardian Questionnaires if you have not brought them in yet.
We had an awesome first week of school, the time went by fast! Here are some highlights from the week!
Shipwrecked
Today we played Shipwrecked. We worked as a class to get from one side of the field to the other with ten sit upons. There were only two rules: Don't step off the mats and communicate positively with each other. Some strategies that worked: Clinton moonwalked to move one mat quickly, Hasini balanced between two mats so that there was enough space for more students, and we thought of fitting three or four students on one mat. If people lost their balance, classmates held them up so that they didn't fall.
Time capsules
We have been writing a letter to our future selves to read at the end of grade 5 and grade 12. Students have been including details about their summer, their interests and goals for this year.
Salute
We started re-building our math fluency by playing salute. Students can teach family members and practice their adding or multiplication facts at home!
We read two read picture books about being inclusive, belonging and being ourselves.
Freedom Frenzy
In PE we played Freedom Frenzy. Students started out in the Gaga Ball pit and then chose to participate in different activities when they were out.
Enjoy the weekend!
